4 Sure-Fire Tips For Effective Weight Loss

Are you just plain fed up because you haven't lost weight for a long time now on that latest fad diet, well please stop! Don't even think about trying another diet, because it will only produce the same results as you have already seen before.

Have a look at the four sure fire tips found below that are based on "Scientific Principles" that have always been around, but are not followed by the majority of weight loss programs you see these days.

So lets have a look:

1. Increasing Your Metabolism

In order to produce Sustained, Permanent and Long-Term Weight Loss, it's imperative that you boost your metabolism. And the most effective way to raise your metabolism is to have a greater proportion of functional muscle on your body.

The only way to build this lean muscle so you can raise your metabolism is through "Strength Training". There's no other method that works wonders on the Metabolism like Strength Training.

By performing Strength Training, you'll effectively increase the amount of functional lean muscle on your body so that your metabolism will elevate.

After a Strength Training session your body will undergo a significant increase or "Spike" in Metabolism, which will allow you to burn much more fat then you were able to before.

2. It's All About Lean Muscle

"The amount of fat the body can burn is directly related to the more lean muscle your body can hold."

If your muscle system can sustain more energy and use this energy significantly when performing strength training, then it will be able to burn off the calories you eat and the excess fat on your body.

In other words, if your muscles become stronger and can hold more energy then you should be able to release this energy more efficiently to increase your metabolism, and to burn off excess calories that you have eaten.

Once we can build more lean muscle through our own strength, then our bodies will become more efficient at burning fat.

It's also the amount of lean muscle on your body that makes you look good Once you burn off the excess fat from your body, the lean muscle underneath your skin will be exposed making you look healthy, energetic, and well toned.

3. Decrease Your Daily Calories

For years now, we have been told to use dieting to rid the excess fat from our bodies.

The trouble with this concept is that the low calorie restricted diet would throw the body into starvation mode, with the body holding onto the fat and using precious muscle tissue for energy.

This would then lower the metabolism causing greater muscle loss and when the diet is broken the unwanted fat would not only return but actually increase because to the lowered metabolism.

The way around this is to cut your daily calorie intake by a small amount of calories only. This will stop any starvation mechanisms from clicking in. You can do this by making up a seven day eating plan and writing down every thing you eat for the week, and then work out the calories you have eaten with a calorie counter. Divide this figure by seven and you have your daily calorie value.

Decrease daily calorie value by a couple of hundred calories per day and no more. This will generate slow weight loss and the majority will be fat loss only. The daily calories should be consumed during the day with small frequent meals.

4. Fast Walking Burns Fat

All you need to do now is incorporate "Fast Walking" into your weight loss program to hasten the burning of excess fat.

Not only is fast walking better much easier on the hips, but it also produces a greater percentage of fat loss as opposed to jogging or running.

Here are some of the benefits of Fast Walking.

Easy to Perform
Most Conventional
All Natural Body Movement
Doesn't Cause Injuries
Can Be Done Anywhere
The Best Minimal Effort Exercise for Fat Loss

"I can't stress enough how Fast Walking is necessary in every weight loss program."

Your next step? To take what you have just learned and apply them to your weight daily weight loss regime.

Fast Weight Loss Tips

When people look for a diet, many of them look for fast weight loss tips or a fast weight loss diet so that they can lose weight more quickly. Care should be taken however to make certain that you select a diet which is capable of meeting your physical requirements while also providing you with a method for losing weight rapidly while remaining healthy.

The sad truth of the matter is that most weight loss plans do not work for more than a few days while you restrict your diet. As often as not, your health will be the only thing that you lose for any length of time. The weight you lose will often come back as soon as you revert to your normal eating habits. While this is not true for all diets, it is especially true when it comes to rapid weight loss and fast weight loss diets.

So does that mean that this is always the case and that fast weight loss tips should be summarily ignored or dismissed? The fact is that with the proper quick weight loss tips, a little self control and some knowledge, you can lose weight, keep the weight off and stay healthy all at the same time.

Fast weight loss diets do work well as long as you are careful and pay attention to your dietary needs and other considerations regarding quick weight loss. If somebody is promising that you can lose five pounds a day there are probably going to be some unhealthy side effects. Most fast weight loss tips will allow you to lose somewhere between one and two pounds on the average day.

Most of the best and most valuable fast weight loss tips involve learning how to properly control your caloric intake by eating the right foods. Starving yourself in order to lose weight quickly is unhealthy, no matter what. Neither do you have to spend countless hours exercising and trying to burn fat in order to lose weight quickly. Healthy and fast weight loss tips and diet plans will show you how to eat properly in order to maintain your health and lose weight all at the same time.

Low calorie diets do not work for most people. A lot of the dietary supplements and diet pills have long-lasting detrimental effects on many people. If you are attempting to lose weight quickly, your health should be your primary concern. In fact, many of the quick weight loss diets do not take your personal habits into consideration at all.

Once you learn how to prepare and consume the right foods to meet your daily requirements, you can begin a healthy regimen for your diet. Learning how to eat properly is the key factor in quick weight loss diets and it should be something that you learn about more before deciding which fast action diet is going to be right for you. If you want a fast weight loss diet that works, you need to learn how to eat properly and once you can accomplish that, you can easily accomplish all of your weight loss goals.

What Are The Best Ways to Burn Fat Fast?

If you're wondering what are the best ways to burn fat fast, then there are several solutions. Most people consider exercise and healthy eating to be the answer and it is but it works very slowly and there are much faster more effective ways of getting the job done. This is also a healthier way to do it because many of the products and methods recommended here are extremely healthy.

So what are the best ways to burn fat? Let's start with specific products. 3 products in particular are great at getting the job done. Apple cider vinegar, coconut oil and flaxseeds are the 3 most powerful products in getting the job done. They are all highly nutritious, help digest food better, regulate your digestive system, increase metabolism and burn fat at an even greater level.

Adding these products into your daily life will significantly decrease the amount of time it will take to get rid of belly fat and burning fat in general. Results can be seen in less than a month but the most important thing is it will not come back once you've gotten rid of it. In addition your health will also improve because of this.

Now let's move onto a diet which also a great way to burn fat. It is called calorie shifting or as some people call it the extreme fat loss diet. It is a dieting technique that increases metabolism and fat burning and keeps it that way. Unlike most diets that deprive you of food and require strict obedience, this one breaks all of those rules and goes against them, and yet still manages to accomplish much more.

Calorie shifting is done by eating 4 or more meals a day, drinking 10 glasses of water a day and mixing the order in which you eat the 4 meals. This is not as difficult as it sounds and is quite easy once you get the hand of it. You don't starve yourself and you don't deprive yourself of anything and this method of dieting causes extreme fat burning and weight loss. Most people lose up to 10 or more pounds in less than 2 weeks! So if you're looking for the best ways to burn fat fast then these products and diet are the best way to go.

If you found the information helpful and are considering trying any of the above methods or diet, then it's important to know how which ways get the best results. In addition to the above methods and diet listed, there is another diet which burns fat even faster than calorie shifting. You can check out more info on the above methods and more here!

Six Super Easy Weight Loss Tips

If you have been trying to lose weight permanently, then these six weight loss tips may be just what you need to kick start your weight loss program. You may have heard some of them before, but if you make them a part of your core goal, you will not have as much difficulty achieving your weight loss goals.

Include exercise in your lifestyle

If you want to achieve long term weight loss, you must not only be careful of what and how you're eating, you must get off your butt and exercise. It has been reported that 80 percent of those who lose for the long haul make changes to their diets and make exercise a part of their lifestyle.

How much are you really eating?

Americans are really guilty of this - supersizing our meal portions. It's not what you eat but how much you eat. By eating smaller portion sizes you can eat whatever you like, because you are not overeating.

Sneak in this super easy exercise

Walking is one of the easiest ways to sneak exercise into your daily life. It is easy to do and requires no equipment except your own body. To make walking even more effective, park your car further away from your destination, walk up hills, use the stairs, and alternate walking with brief periods of running. Get in as many steps as possible each day to rev up your internal calorie burning machine.

The best no calorie drink in the world

Substituting water for those artificially sweetened diet drinks and sugary has many advantages. First of all, it has no calories. Plus it's great for your skin and hair. And drinking water before and during meals helps to stave off hunger and fill you up more quickly. Be careful of those liquid calories in other drinks - they can really add up.

Eat more frequent smaller meals

When you eat more frequently (4 to 6 small meals a day), it helps to keep hunger at bay and stabilize your blood sugar levels to keep from zapping your energy. And when you eat, you will be less inclined to stuff yourself like a pig.

Your weight loss goal is not achieved overnight

Nor is it achieved in two weeks or one month. In order to really drop weight, you must realize that there is no quick fix. You must dedicate yourself to making lifestyle changes that will help you reach your goal. Believe me, your body will thank you and you will be happier in the long run.

How to Lose Water Weight - 5 Tips

Retaining excess water can make you feel bloated. It can also make your wrists, ankles, hands and feet swell and your face look puffy. Sure, you have probably learned that the best way to lose water weight is actually to drink more water. This is absolutely true. In fact, water weight is usually a sign that your body is "scared" to lose any more water and as a countermeasure is retaining it like a camel. The thing is, you are not a camel!

Here are 5 tips for fine-tuning your water weight loss plan:

Tip #1: Get a 32 oz. or 64 oz. refillable container: You can find these little babies for very cheap at almost any discount or sporting goods store and they come in all kinds of cool designs. Buy them not for their cool designs, however, but rather for their amazing capacity: you can really put a lot of water into these things. And, unlike a conventional cup, their portable design encourages you to carry them wherever you go. If you drink just 1 - 2 of these mega-containers' worth of water each day, your body will start shedding the excess water that it has been holding onto for dear life for so long.

Tip #2: Add a little lemon or lime: To your mega-container, add a squeeze or two of lemon or lime. These citrus fruits act as natural diuretics, and their refreshing taste makes the water go down that much easier.

Tip #3: Eat lower sodium foods: Sodium and water weight go hand-in-hand. When you drink more water, your body is freed to release some of its sodium stores. Conversely, when you switch to a lower sodium diet, your body will tend to store less excess water. Bonus tip: cutting down on diet sodas will cut your sodium intake significantly.

Tip #4: Try a natural diuretic: Diuretics help your body flush water weight. But prescription diuretics can be rather harsh on your system and often cause intense diarrhea. Try a natural diuretic such as an herbal-based one for a gentler, healthier experience of forcing that excess water out of your body.

Tip #5: Sprinkle in some exercise: Yes, that weight loss panacea, exercise, comes in handy for helping you to lose water weight, too. Bonus tip: choose exercises that work the areas of your body (e.g., wrists or ankles) that need the most help in losing water.

Drinking more water is the cornerstone to a water weight loss strategy. Adding a bit of citrus to your water, taking natural diuretics, eating a low sodium diet, and doing concentrated exercises can also help you shed that weight. Losing water weight is the first step to looking sexy and feeling great with a comprehensive weight loss plan.

7 Rapid Weight Loss Tips

Rapid weight loss is something that everyone aims for or wishes that would happen. The key thing is rapid weight loss can happen if you burn fat and cleanse toxins out of your body. There are several things you can do in order to burn fat and cleanse toxins out of your body and I'm going to show you 7 tips that will help you do just that.

1. Use a cleanse. People can actually lose weight just by using a cleanse. Did you know that people have at least seven or eight pounds of waste stored in their body? By simply using a cleanse people can remove the toxins and waste from their body. Are you looking for the quickest weight loss, if so consider liquid cleanses.

2. Eat more often, but in smaller amounts and moderation. By eating more often will help your body metabolize the food you eat and in result not store it as fat as what a larger meals do. Eat frequently but in smaller amounts throughout the day will help you lose weight.

3. Eat more protein. Protein helps your body in many ways, one helps your metabolism and two helps you burn fat quicker. Protein is what helps people grow and build muscle.

4. Stop drinking soda pop. Soda pop contains so many calories it's crazy. Your basically drinking cups of sugar. Instead try and drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Just by cutting out pop will definitely help you towards rapid weight loss. It also is a good way to flush toxins out of your body as well.

5. Begin to Exercise. Try and exercise a little each day. Even if you can only do 20 minutes each day in exercise, that's 20 minutes more then what you were getting before. Go for walks, or start lifting weights. Before anyone begins to exercise or do something different from your daily routine a good suggestion would be to consult your doctor to make sure your work out routine will be okay for you.

6. Stop drinking alcohol all together or at least cut back big time. For some it might not be a big thing as you may be just a social drinker, for others you might like to have a drink everyday after a long days work. The thing is alcohol is very rich in sugar and carbohydrates and aids in your body storing fat. Definitely a thing to cut way back on if you plan on losing weight rapidly.

7. Stick with your new routine. When people stick to their diet and their new work out routine it should become a habit. If you're looking to lose weight rapidly, people need to stick with it. Don't stop and then start again. If people start and then stop their diet and exercise routine it's actually hard on your system. It won't help towards the rapid weight loss results you're looking for. It will end up getting you frustrated on the slow progress. Rapid weight loss is much more effective when people stick with it.

Fasting & Exercise To Control Your Weight

Fasting and Exercise have been a simple way for me to keep my weight in control. I am 5 3 and I keep my weight around 110 lbs. I am healthy and strong at age 67.

The program:

You choose when you want to fast

1. Once a week or

2. When you have over eaten and feel stuffed.

3. When you dont like how you feel or look.

4. When you are planning on eating out and want to be able to eat and enjoy without feeling guilty.

How do you fast?

Go without breakfast and lunch try to go from dinner to dinner a 24 hours period. If you do this regularly you shouldnt have to fast more than one day at a time. I have fasted for 3 days and the most a 5-day fast but that was only when I felt I was desperate and sometimes for health cleanses. Normally I fast only one day a week or when ever I feel I need to fast. Mostly I fast just once a month for one day.

Be Careful: When you break your fast dont start making up for all of the food you didnt eat by eating more than normal and making the fast a waste.

To help you fast:

1. Drink lots of water whenever you are hungry
2. Get use to the feeling of being hungry you can get to live with it and even like it because you are in control.
3. Dont get carried away with fasting. Do it in moderation and with reason. It is not necessary to have long fasts.
4. Have the right attitude. Feel excited about how you will feel when you get to where you want to be. Dont think of fasting as denying yourself but rather being good to you.

What are the benefits of fasting along with exercise?
1. You do feel free from the control food can have on you.
2. Your mind feels clear, you think better.
3. You like yourself better.
4. You stomach shrinks so youre not as hungry after fasting.
5. Fasting takes away your craving.
6. You loose weight!
7. You look good!

Exercise:

My exercise has been running two miles every second day (about 1/2 hour) and on the other days do about 10 to 15 minutes of weight training with 5lb weights and stretching exercises.

1. Choose whatever exercise you enjoy.
2. Try to do it first thing in the morning.
3. Do it regularly at least 3-4 times a day for at least hour.
5. If you can try to do some kind of exercise each day.
6. Dont let weather stop you. If its raining, exercise in the house or wherever you are. Create an exercise program that allows you to do some kind of exercise no matter what your circumstances are.
7. Exercise until you can feel it. Get your heart rate up and perspire.

Of course, controlling your food intake is important but with this program I seem not to get out of control with my eating. I eat normally and very seldom over indulge. It seems this program helps me be in control and not to have any food addictions.

I am 67 years old and have been able to keep my weight in control with this program. It is simple. It allows you to stop weight gain before it gets a hold of you. As with all weight and exercise programs they must be done with wisdom and approval from your Doctor.

Top 5 Conditions To Heal With Tai Chi

Visitors to China are often amazed when they look out their hotel room windows early in the morning. In parks, squares, plazas, and schoolyards, ten of thousands of Chinese of all ages - but particularly the elderly - begin their days with slow, graceful, beautiful choreographed routines called tai chi chuan, generally known in the United States as tai chi. Practitioners of tai chi say that this centuries-old dancelike exercise, which is derived from the martial arts, clears the mind, relaxes the body, nourishes the spirit, increases energy and contributes to health and longevity. Over the last 20 years, tai chi has become increasingly popular in the United States - both as a gentle form of meditative exercise and as a way to cope with various illnesses. One such illness is multiple sclerosis (MS), the baffling neurological disease that saps the strength and limits the mobility of an estimated 350,000 Americans, most of them women. Tai chi has not been the subject of as much scientific research as yoga, but the few studies that have been published to date point to significant health benefits, particularly for the elderly.

1. Stress

The Chinese researchers who equated tai chi to a moderate-paced walk also measured its ability to reduce stress. They subjected 48 men and women to mentally challenging tests and then showed them a film calculated to upset them. Then the participants were divided into four groups. Each group attempted to destress using one of four activities: tai chi, meditation, a brisk walk or reading. By measuring their heart rates, blood pressure and urinary excretion of stress hormones, the researchers were able to track how quickly the participants recovered from the stress. Tai chi turned out to be as stress-relieving as two better-known stress reducers, meditation and walking. Tai chi would be a good choice for someone who enjoys physically active approaches to stress management but may not be able to take a walk.

2. Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most severe form of arthritis. Some two million Americans have this painful, potentially crippling inflammatory joint disease. For other forms of arthritis, it is recommended gentle exercise to help control pain and preserve joint function. But many physicians are reluctant to recommend exercise for people with RA because overexertion can trigger joint inflammation. Tai chi does not. In a study, 20 people with RA practiced tai chi two hours a week for ten weeks without any aggravation of symptoms. The researchers concluded that tai chi appears to be safe for RA patients. They also confirmed that tai chi might serve as a safe alternative to other forms of exercise therapy.

3. Balance

In a study, nine pairs of similar women aged 65 to 85 were recruited. One of each pair practiced tai chi, the other did not. Using sophisticated tests, the researchers assessed the women's postural control, their steadiness on their feet and their ability to remain standing when subjected to destabilizing situations, such as a rocking floor. The tai chi practitioners had significantly better postural control, meaning that they were less likely to fall. This finding has considerable medical importance for those over 65. falling is a common - and serious - problem in the elderly, especially for women with bone-thinning osteoporosis. Osteoporosis makes the bones brittle, and when elderly women fall, they risk hip fractures, complications from which are the nation's twelfth leading cause of death and a major killer of elderly women. Weight-bearing exercise, such as walking, helps control osteoporosis, but as women grow older, fear of falling keeps many from getting the weight-bearing exercise they need. All this leads to a vicious cycle: fear of falling, increasingly sedentary lifestyle and increased risk of hip fractures if they do fall. Tai chi can help the elderly stay on their feet, avoid falling and remain physically active, which promotes overall health and well-being.

4. Exercise

A classic, hour-long tai chi routine could raise heart rate and oxygen consumption into the aerobic range, thereby offering the benefits of strenuous exercise, including cardiovascular conditioning. Tai chi's modest intensity produces the kind of moderate workout that exercise physiologists often recommend for the elderly and for anyone interested in reducing their risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and other serious medical conditions.

5. Emotional Well-Being

It was found that tai chi elevates mood, reduces anger, relieves fatigue and increases energy as well as other forms of moderate exercise.

The Chinese have used green tea to treat ailments for several centuries. Nowadays, Western culture is beginning to understand the benefits of green tea. Besides the disease-fighting benefits, Diet green tea also aids weight loss programs. Studies have shown that drinking green tea helps you burn more calories. So what makes green tea so beneficial?

Green tea is the most popular types of Chinese tea. Many people, consider it as the best drink for hot summers. The main reason for this claim is the fact that green tea is cool and fights off irritation. Many have even claimed that it relieves fever.

The Chinese have known about these medicinal benefits since ancient times, as they have been using green tea to treat everything from headaches to depression, and a long list of other ailments.

Why is Diet green tea so special? Diet green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly the said epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is basically an anti-oxidant that has the power to fight and kill cancer cells without harming healthy tissue in the body.

Studies also revealed that this anti-oxidant has been effective in lowering cholesterol levels, and hampering the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter benefit takes on added importance for the fact that the formation of abnormal blood clots, medically known as thrombosis, is the main factor that causes stroke and heart attacks, thus making Diet green tea very beneficial for one's health and well being.

The Latest Nutrition Info

Today Dr. Chris Mohr, Ph.D., is going to answer some tough fat loss nutrition questions.Dr. Chris Mohr is a consultant to a number of media outlets and nutrition corporations, with bachelors and masters degrees in Nutrition, from Penn State University and the University of Massachusetts, respectively. He received his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and is also a registered dietitian.

Now, before we get to the interview with Dr. Mohr, I have something to admit:

Nutrition is more important than training.

There, I said it. In fact, I've admitted it all along. It doesn't matter how good your workouts are, you won't get maximum results without the right nutrition.

And that's why I've gone to Dr. Mohr to get his advanced fat loss tips.

CB: For fat loss, what kind of shake is best after weights? Do we need high-carb, sugar shakes?

CM:

I still think this is an important meal to get some carbohydrates in to fuel you for your next workouts, since carbohydrate intake is likely low throughout the remainder of the day.

Even during a fat loss phase, I recommend folks get at least a 1:1 ratio of carbs:protein.

CB: But what about sugar specifically? If a client is 35, 5'10", and 21% body fat, does he need sugar in his post-workout drink?

CM:

I do still think simple carbs are important during this recovery period.

Carbs don't have to be the enemy---if the rest of your carb intake is mainly veggies, the post workout simple carbs will be a Godsend.

You'll suck that right up, you'll feel stronger, and have better subsequent workouts. You should be training hard enough to be able to lose the fat...it's not all about the carbs.

I would go 1:1 ratio of carbs:protein...around 30:30 of a combination of malto/glucose/sucrose or any high GI ingredients with a whey isolate and/or hydrosylate.

CB: Does post-workout nutrition change for interval training?

CM:

I believe it does, because while you're exercising at a high-intensity, the amount of glycogen depletion and protein degradation that's going on is lower than with a longer duration,

intense weight workout.

It is still an important time for feeding (after exercise), but I wouldn't recommend the same high intake of carbs:protein as I would after a tough weight workout.

Like before, go with the 1:1 ratio of carbs:protein - that is, of course, unless you were just out there doing intervals for an hour (but then you'd basically be superhuman).

CB: What are your thoughts on eating before bed?

CM:

This is a time I like a protein and fat meal, to help slow the digestion of those nutrients during a time when it's likely you will be breaking down some muscle tissue.

I am "ok" with some carbs, but if you do eat them, focus on veggies or something similar and don't sit down to a Thanksgiving meal and then immediately close your eyes.

CB: Everyone seems to know the general protein rule for gaining muscle (1g per pound bodyweight), but how much protein do we need when trying to lose fat?

CM:

This is suffice for losing fat as well. Maintaining this intake, with a moderate fat intake as well, will help provide the necessary nutrients since you want to lose as much fat as possible, yet maintain as much lean body mass as possible.

You can't get around the fact that weight loss does take some reduction in calorie intake (or very high amount of calorie expenditure), so focus your intake on lean proteins, healthy fats, and always think fiber, not carbs.

CB: Give us one of your "secret" advanced fat loss nutrition tips...please!

CM:

Losing fat without the addition of intervals is like riding a bike through sand - sure it will work, but your progress won't be nearly as fast.

Replace all simple carbohydrates with their high-fiber counterparts, and make sure you're eating at least one vegetable each and every meal.

CB: What do you think of "calorie cycling" diets - where you drop your calories for a couple of days, then bump them up, etc. Is there any research to support this approach?

CM:

To my knowledge it's all anecdotal.

Theoretically, it seems as if it may work; however, it would be near impossible to design a well controlled study to test the theory.

With that said, it's hard to make specific recommendations because there's nothing to base it off of.

CB: And let's finish off with your thoughts on fish oil - dosage, quality, etc.

CM:

They kick ass---general health, 2-4 g/day. Elevated TG I would go higher, increasing in a stepwise manner, up to 8g or so (not a blanket statement, but individualized). Always speak with MD first since it does decrease clotting time...contraindicated if on blood thinning medications.

Preliminary research with weight loss shows it's promising---2-3 studies to my knowledge. I do believe higher quality fish oils are important. Fish oil shouldn't give you fishy burps or taste fishy at all.

Two favorites are Nordic Naturals and Carlson. Fish oils are screened very well for mercury and other contaminants, particularly ones like NN and Carlson.

CB: Thanks Chris. This is great.

Maintaining Good Health isn't Rocket Science

This week the media claimed, "A calorie is a calorie". They were citing a new study, which found that burning a calorie through exercise or removing it from your diet is equal for losing fat. The study was somewhat controversial because it has long been accepted that combining exercise with dieting makes it easier to lose weight.

Exercise increases your body's sensitivity to its own insulin and that makes it easier to lose fat, especially around the mid-section. However, the new study said it didn't make any difference. They concluded that it is not possible to lose weight from target' areas and that your genes dictate where your weight loss comes from. I see several problems with their arguments.

Is a calorie a calorie?

First, the new study only looked at a small number of people and that makes it difficult to make general assumptions. Second, the study only used a very strict diet, making it difficult to generalize for many types of foods. Third, the study only employed cardiovascular exercise and not weight training, which has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity. So, although the experiment told us something about how exercise burns calories, the conclusions went a little too far.

Finally, the media's interpretation of the study was misleading as well. In stating that a calorie is a calorie' the media suggests that it doesn't matter what kinds of food you eat, but that it is really the total calorie content that matters. This is not what the study concluded at all. The researchers were simply comparing reducing calories in the diet to burning them through exercise. They made no conclusions about which sources of calories were better than others.

This is just another example of the media exaggerating the results. No wonder people are so confused about health advice. The media's constant misinterpretation of the data makes people think that researchers are always changing their minds on health issues.

It's all about Balance

Maintaining health is really not that hard. Many of us over-think the problem. Using a common sense, maintaining a diet balanced in fats, carbohydrates and proteins, taking a quality multivitamin and getting some exercise goes a long way.

Balance is a critical issue in any dietary change. Fad diets that tout low-carb or low-fat are very short sited. Most people are surprised to hear that the brain is 60% fat! And several types of fat needed for brain function must come from the diet meaning the body can't make them. What this means is that trying to remove too much fat, especially polyunsaturated fat, from the diet can actually starve the brain.

When is fat good?

In fact, a report that came out of Sweden this week showed that some kids were overweight because they didn't get enough of the right kind of fat. The Swedish researchers found that kids who didn't eat enough poly-unsaturated fat, mostly omega-3 fats, actually had a higher chance of being overweight.

The brain is also an energy hog. It uses about 10% of the energy you eat even though it only accounts for about 2% of total body mass. Where does most of our energy come from? - carbohydrates and fat. A balanced diet is about 15% fat, 60% carbohydrate and 25% protein. Athletes may need a little more carbohydrate for endurance or protein for strength.

So please don't subscribe to fad diets that tell you to cut out all the fat or carbohydrates from your diet. They're not good for your body and they're not good for your brain.

How To Lose 10 Pounds in 7 Days

In order to lose 10 pounds in 7 days you will have to do 2 main things: Improve on your nutrition and increase the amount of aerobic activity that you perform. It won't be easy but it is very possible if you keep focused and are willing to make the effort. At the end of the week it will be worth it.

Here are some tips on how to lose 10 lbs. in a week:

1. Cut down on your useless calories - sugary drinks, white bread, pastries, fast food, fried food and candies.

2. Instead of eating 3 large meals a day, eat 4-5 small meals. This helps your body to digest the food and turn it into energy instead of into fat. It will also help you feel energized through out the day and will curb your hunger.

3. Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day. I know not the easiest thing to remember so take a large bottle of water to work and make sure you finish it before you leave for home. Often when we feel hungry it's not for lack of food but for lack of liquids. Drinking water will help keep your hunger down. And the best thing is that water is zero calories.

4. In order to lose 10 pounds in 1 week you will have to burn a lot of calories through exercise. There simply isn't enough time to lose that much weight by diet alone. Choose a reliable fitness program that you can use. One such program is home based exercise program called Turbulence Training. The main advantage of this program is that it teaches you how to work out in the comfort of your own home.

Pleas keep in mind that losing 10 pounds in 7 isn't easy to do because it requires a major commitment on your part.

Personally, I don't recommend trying to lose 10 pounds in such a short time. It is much better to give yourself at least 2 weeks to lose 10 pounds. If you have that kind of time, I recommend using the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. To read a review of this diet, click here: How To Lose 9 Pounds Every 11 Days With Fat Loss 4 Idiots

Beyonce Weight Loss - Beyonce's Lemonade Diet

Looking for information about the Beyonce weight loss? Well the miraculous weight loss is all thanks to Beyonce's lemonade diet.

The Beyonce Knowles Diet

The well known lemon detox program, also known as the "Master Cleanse Diet"", was first introduced as a way to flush out impurities from the body. As years have progressed, people, especially celebrities, have taken on the diet as a weight loss program.

One of Hollywood's well known divas, Beyonce Knowles, is one of the many popular singers and actresses to try the Master Cleanse diet. Beyonce's lemonade diet is the best way to lose a large amount of weight in a short time period. Beyonce went on the program in order to get in shape for her role in the film, 'Dreamgirls'. Her character needed to be portrayed as a slim girl.

During the promotion period after the film, she went on the Oprah Winfrey Show to tell her experiences with the Beyonce Knowles diet. She then revealed to the audience that her reason for trying the successful detox program was to prepare for the movie.

Beyonce weight loss was totaled at over 20 pounds after finishing the diet schedule. Beyonce said that even though it was difficult to be on such a strict diet, mostly liquids, the ending results were well worth it.

The Beyonce Knowles diet (also known as The Master Cleanse Secrets diet) consists of drinking a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, tea, and other laxative products to detoxify the system. In the mornings, the user drinks a sea salt mixture to get the bowel moving, followed by the lemon mixture during the day, and then a laxative tea at night.

The recommended time limit for the weight loss program is 10 days. The lemon diet has been around for a very long time, however, Beyonce's weight loss with it has increased the popularity of the diet program.

All Those Toxins

Much of the food that we eat has chemicals and other preservatives in it. Even the homegrown vegetables that we can purchase at the grocery stores are fertilized with specific ingredients that are harmful to our bodies.

Due to the fact that the toxins and the metals are unnatural for our system and other organs, the lemon diet will flush out the harmful chemicals. Many people report that their aches and pains are gone, as well as cravings for fast food. Once the Beyonce's lemonade diet (The Master Cleanse Secrets diet) program is finished, the user can return to their normal food schedule.

If you are in a hurry to shed a few pounds before the summer, then this Beyonce weight loss diet is certainly worth trying. Just keep in mind that it is not meant primarily for weight loss, and it is more specialized towards detoxifying the system.

Make sure to read helpful advice about how to use the Beyonce's lemonade diet at home. The first two days is the hardest part due to the lack of solid foods. If you can pass this roadblock, then the end results will be very gratifying.

Weight Loss Exercise Form

I'm a stickler for exercise form in my weight loss client's workouts. In fact, some of my clients think that I take exercise form too seriously.

But you can't fool around with exercise form. You must do each rep of each exercise with the best form you possible - even when you are tired and struggling to get through the set (that's where the real benefits are achieved!).

So you must go through the safe, full range of motion to get the most out of the exercise. By doing so, you will get more out of the exercise. And more work equals more results.

That's not hard to see, is it? I mean, if you go for full depth and perfect form on a squat or split squat or dumbbell press, we all know that is harder and takes more energy than to use poor form or to do only half the range of motion.

If you do an exercise with picture perfect form that means you've also done the exercise in its most difficult form. And that means you will gain the most muscle and lose the most fat when the exercise is done to its full capacity.

Poor form is often lazy form - its the easy way out - and this will not get you the results you need.

On the other hand, if your mobility (a better training term than flexibility) prevents you from doing the exercise, then you are best to work on your mobility with bodyweight exercises, such as the Spiderman Climb, Spiderman Pushup, Y-Squat, and the other metabolism boosting strength training bodyweight exercises.

By improving your mobility, you'll be able to do the Single-Leg Reaching Lunge with perfect form (i.e. lots of depth while maintaining a slight arch in your lower back).

I've added the Single-Leg Reaching Lunge to the bodyweight page...just scroll down to the exercises here.

Remember that all exercises should be done with your abs braced (as if someone was going to punch you in the stomach) and your low-back slightly arched, but never, ever rounded.

Train safely, train consistently, and train successfully for weight loss.

Cutting Exercises - A Bodybuilding Myth?

One of the most common goals of fitness enthusiasts is to have low levels of body fat covering their hard-earned muscles. Whether the individual is an athlete that wants to look good in and out of uniform or a fitness instructor that wants to have "toned" arms, everyone is looking for the most effective exercises to reach their goals.

There is certainly no shortage of opinions when it comes to training programs and exercises that trainers and magazines seem to promote to reach these goals, so it is understandable that many bodybuilders and gym-goers can be overwhelmed by information. But what really confuses me is the claim made by gym employees and fitness authors that certain resistance training exercises are for definition and cutting up.

Believe it or not, but no strength coach or exercise physiologist has been able to prove that one exercise rather than others can promote more definition or toning! Can someone explain how leg extensions are a better exercise for muscle definition than squats? This article will dispel these myths and will reveal the best exercises for meeting the goals of increased muscle definition, which is the correct term for toning, cutting up or getting ripped. In fact, lets just eliminate toning from our vocabulary all together.

First a little background for those without a long history of weight training experience. Bodybuilders (that includes any man or woman that is seeking to improve their bodys appearance!) traditionally perform a number of exercises for a body part during a single resistance training session. For example, in a chest workout one might start with bench presses, move to incline dumbbell press, and finish with dumbbell flyes or the pec-deck.

Now according to many personal trainers and fitness magazines, the rationale behind this type of program is that the pressing exercises are best for strength and mass development and the pec-deck would provide for definition. Also, people believe that these definition exercises should be emphasized in order to develop a ripped body (that is, low levels of body fat). Unfortunately, it seems bodybuilders and fitness buffs alike have been led astray, and the end result is a poorly planned program that does not lead to the desired results.

Next we need a brief, yet simplistic, review of human anatomy and physiology to reason why these cutting exercises (i.e. pec-deck) do not do the job. For our purposes there are 2 components determining body composition, muscle and fat. For most people it is the amount of fat that is the limiting factor for them in the development of muscular definition and not the quality of their muscle. If an overweight individual were to be stripped of all their fat, they too would have muscle definition.

On the other hand, a skinny individual can increase their muscle definition by lifting weights and increasing muscle hypertrophy (growth). The body cannot tell the difference between exercises! It responds according to the demands applied to the body. If you lift weights the muscle will grow so that it is stronger and can lift the weight easier the next time. If you eat too much and do not exercise, the energy is deposited as fat and your muscle definition will be lost. It is a very simple equation!

The pec-deck can still be incorporated into workout designs, but it is not the best exercise for promoting a better body composition. In fact, this isolation exercise recruits only the chest muscles and ignores the triceps and deltoids, unlike the previously mentioned presses. And remember that more muscles result in greater energy expenditure and a greater overall training stimulus.

Another myth that seems to propagate is that sets performed for a very high number of repetitions are most effective for cutting up. Refer back to the basic anatomical principle that the bodys appearance is determined by the amounts of both muscle and fat, and most importantly that low levels of body fat are necessary for muscle definition. Using a lightweight to do a huge number of repetitions might not show off your muscles better than using a moderate weight and performing a moderate number of repetitions.

Why not? Because there would likely be no difference in the amount of total calories burned between the two workouts provided each performed a similar exercise volume in the workout. The greater number of repetitions in the one workout would be offset by the greater intensity (weight) used in the other workout. However, a heavier weight will stimulate more muscle growth. More muscle results in a faster metabolism and theoretically greater energy expenditure at rest. So over the long haul the more intense (heavier lifting) workout may be the optimal choice for reducing body fat. In addition, larger muscles are easier to see!

Okay, so what is going to bring you the results (i.e. definition) that you want? Keep the exercises basic and intense (i.e. moderate to heavy weight). Most bodybuilders are better off to do 4-5 sets of bench and incline presses (for a total of 8-10 sets) rather than including 3 sets of pec-deck in the traditional manner. The volume of exercise will be the same but the difficulty of exercise will be harder and the cumulative effects will greater.

Aerobic exercise is not essential for low levels of body fat but can certainly promote greater cardiovascular fitness and help prevent excessive weight gain. Interval training has now been shown in 2 studies to be more effective than slow cardio.

So stick with multi-muscle strength exercises and interval training to burn more calories out of the gym. It really adds up to more calorie burn and less body fat. That is a far better approach than relying on cutting exercises.

And finally, make the proper dietary changes to promote muscle gains and body fat reductions. Nutrition is the #1 factor for fat loss. If you don't have good nutrition, no exercise program will help you lose fat. In the end you will be healthier and will achieve superior muscle definition!

Laxative Tea For Weight Loss - Weight Loss Secrets About Laxative Tea They Don't Want You To Know

If you are looking to lose weight and trying to do so by using laxative teas, you are literally endangering yourself in more ways than you probably know.

Laxative teas are probably worse than your regular, over the counter laxatives. Why? Because they taste good and because the are often marketed as harmless and actually beneficial because of their herbal ingredients. Don't be fooled. Laxative teas are dangerous because they can be addicting. Laxative abuse can lead to long term problems and health risks that far out weigh their use. Even at a casual pace.

See, laxatives work in the large intestines, not the small intestine were the majority of calories are stored.

Because laxatives stimulate the large intestine, they produce side effects like runny diarrhea, softening of the bones and intense pain. Worse, if you abuse Laxative Tea for Weightloss, you may find yourself unable to have regular bowel movements and even more terrifying, you could end up wearing a colostomy bag.

Believe it or not, people searching for answers to their weight problem have one thing right. The reason that they can not lose weight is because of the toxin and plaque build up in their bodies. Unfortunately, people are lead to think that these teas will help aid in their removal. But as we have already said, that's where laxatives fall short, they stimulate the large intestine only. The real monster, the real weight loss demon lies within the colon.

You have probably heard the saying, "life and death begin in the colon" well it's true.

People that can't lose weight, and have other chronic illnesses should look to their colon for answers. Parasites and plaque build up in the colon is really what is stopping you from loosing weight. Get rid of this FOR GOOD and the pounds will just melt away.

But don't think for a minute that just by doing a "cleanse" that your problem will go away. There are actually 3 factors to regaining colon health and therefore maintaining the perfect weight for your body.

First, you need to understand why diets don't work--actually we just answered that with the explanation of what lives inside most peoples colons. But here's the thing, how did they get there? What do they live on? And How do I keep them from coming back after I get them out?

These parasites and plaque deposits in your colon are actually what is forcing your body to protect itself with fat. That is why today more than ever, Americans a plagued with love handles, excessive fat under the arms, around the hips and thighs. These fat deposits are your bodies way of trying to protect your organs from these toxins.

Get rid of what's in your colon, don't eat the foods that attract parasites and plaque and balance out your body with the right nutrients. Then, the pounds will melt off and you will never have to worry about finding a dangerous laxative tea for weight loss again!

Calorie Cycling - How Does Calorie Cycling Work to Help You Lose Weight?

Calorie cycling is a common metabolism trick that first came into widespread use in the bodybuilding community as a way to keep your body from settling back into its natural set-point weight. It actually takes a great deal of effort to build muscle and this way bodybuilders could continue to define their physiques without too many plateaus. But calorie cycling, also known as calorie shifting or zigzag dieting, isn't just useful to those trying to put on muscle. It's also a great weight loss technique for those of us who simply need to lose weight.

How does calorie cycling work?

Calorie cycling is about making small changes in how many calories you take in on a day to day level. For a couple of days you may eat above your maintenance level, followed by a few days of eating a bit below it (by about 500 calories or so) and then you can work into your diet some built-in cheat days in which you don't pay any attention at all to how much and what foods you are eating. You simply stop eating when you hunger is satisfied.

By eating like this you can pretty much forget about plateaus in your weight loss because your metabolism never has the chance to settle into a routine. It helps keep you burning fat too. In some calorie shifting diet weight loss plans, such as the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program, you not only shift the number of calories, but you also shift the types of food that you are eating as well, but overall you'll still be working with meal plans with primarily lower carb options because that is the best way to get your body to give up the fat!

Of course, on your cheat days, you can eat those carbs you've been missing instead of feeling deprived. Just remember that the cheat days shouldn't turn into a permanent routine or you'll be right back where you started. After those three days of free eating are over, it's back to calorie cycling. You might even find that the weight comes off faster after a purposeful cheat with carbs.

If you're looking for a diet plan to help you lose weight fast, then you should look into Fat Loss 4 Idiots. Using the calorie cycling method, Fat Loss 4 Idiots works by frequently shifting the calories that you eat so your metabolism never gets stalled out.
